One of the most important things I have learned from the styling industry is to never underestimate the basics. Sure, it’s fun to invest on trends every now and then, but having the essentials in your wardrobe can take you a long, long way. And I’m not just referring to your clothes, mind you.
Another Memorata challenge on my list was to style a pair of shoes in seven different ways. I know for a fact that Memorata shoes cater to every girl’s unique personality. But a pair of shoes that one can wear in seven different styles? Now that could be tricky. It took me a while to finish this post because I had to really think about how I can pull off this challenge without making a fool of myself. But then again, all I had to do was go back to the basics! :)
I chose a pair of pumps in a nice shade of taupe for this challenge. I feel it’s always wise to invest on pumps whenever I’m shopping for shoes because they look good with almost anything. I’m just so happy how Memorata has a wide selection of stylish shoes, and yet they haven’t forgotten to cover the basics as well. So, here’s a pair of Memorata heels that you can pair with just about anything in your closet!
v-neck white shirt (Forever 21) | ripped black jeans (Topshop) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
Here’s a look that can attest to my earlier statement when I said that your ever reliable pair of pumps can look good paired with anything. That includes your most laidback outfit when you’re too lazy to dress up or too busy to mix and match. Even in your plain white tee and your favorite pair of jeans, you are never underdressed when you’re wearing these killer heels.
laced top (Topshop) | coral pencil skirt (Topshop) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
Girly looks are not my cup of tea, but I do know skirts look best paired with heels. Show off your feminine side and party with friends or perhaps go on a date in your floral dress or all-pink ensemble… (Uhm, yeah, well, it doesn’t have to be pink, I think.) I’m not doing so well here, am I? No? Okay. Let’s just move on to the next look.
red high-waist shorts (Forever 21) | flannel buttondown (Cotton On) | white cropped top | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
This reminds me a lot of how I used to dress back in college, but I still tried to Google it in order to be sure. Basing from the looks of it, grunge fashion can pretty much be summed up by boots and flannel shirts. But the key is really to look effortless and comfortable. So, if you’re not into looking too rundown, wearing pumps is a cute alternative.
black dress (Forever 21) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
What can be more classic than your pretty little black dress? And of course, what works for your LBD better than a pair of pumps, right? Here’s to a look that never grows old. :)
inner l/s buttondown (Cotton On) | knitted s/l pullover | white shorts (Bershka) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
Back in college, I owned a pair of pumps which I wore for class reports, defenses, debates, and yada yada yada. It was like my default footwear for when I couldn’t wear sneakers or doll shoes in class because I had to look a bit more formal for presentations. But you know the beauty of it? Looking smart doesn’t have to be rocket science.
cerulean trousers | cropped top (Patricia Santos) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
It’s a common mistake for people to believe that being trendy is all about following the latest trends. Truth be told, being trendy is simply about being bold and fearless about strutting your own style. The bottomline is, do not be afraid to explore and express yourself through fashion.
leather jacket (Forever 21) | Coca-Cola shirt (Forever 21) | leather skirt (Patricia Santos) | shoes (Memorata by CLN)
And we’re down to look number seven! You don’t have to be Taylor Momsen to show off your inner fierce self. Edgy looks are best pulled off by people who couldn’t care less about how others see them differently. Tone down the masculinity of leather and studs with a pair of heels to give you a hint of sexiness. ;)
So, here’s my unsolicited fashion advise: Whether you’re feeling laidback, feminine, grunge, classic, preppy, trendy, or edgy, always remember that you have a best friend for whatever style you’re in the mood for. Hence, invest on a nice pair of pumps!
And oh, I hear Memorata has a great selection in store for you. Maybe it’s time to avail a pair or two for your Valentine’s date? Ha ha ha! Happy shopping, ladies! <3
